Today was fucking WEIRD, and I don't really expect anyone to believe that this all happened the way I said it. Even my friend/coworker was skeptical as to how much of what I told him actually was said, till the weirdo called while I was outside and was asking about me to him.
I'm too tired to type a narrative, so I'll repeat the story I told someone else with the good old cut&paste. Excuse the careless AIM grammar.
sometimes it seems as though my head were a bright lamp that strange people fly to... )

I laughed everything off, except the comparassion to Adolf Hitler/someone he would be attracted to. The man who drew that connection does not have a sound mind, but I'm still disturbed by what he said. I mean if when someone thinks that I in some way resemble Hitler after talking on the phone very briefly, maybe I should reexamine myself. I'm probably overreacting, but it's one of those things that's gonna nag at me for a while :/

shakespeare's works

oh my fuck

After work tonight, around 9:15, I veered slightly from my regular path towards the train in order to use the ATM machine. This toothless--3 teeth on the right top side, actually-- black guy in his 30s-40s (difficult to tell but he had a bit of grey hair) comes out of the shadows and was like "excuse me, can I ask you a question?" I nodded. "Do you get high?" Naively assuming that he was referring to weed, I told him no not anymore. He said that he needs "a buddy to get high with", and that his other buddy ditched him. I was like don't worry, you'll have no problem finding somebody to smoke a joint with you but I'm broke and I gotta go" he pulls out a bag of CRACK COCAINE and told me I wouldn't have to pay, and kept saying please and that he needs a buddy. It took a few seconds for the situation to register, then I fairly ran away. It was a creepy encounter, definately absurd, but also thought-provoking. That shit really does exist, just like so many other harsh realities we don't pay attention to.

Mind you, this was a few yards away from the Government Center train station, next to city hall and a gigantic picture of mayor Thomas Menino.

Oh, Boston, never a dull day.

"This sage with fourty thoughts is a fool; but I believe he knows how to sleep."

unngghh

Within the past three days, I've managed a total of maybe 5 hours of restive sleep...it hasn't been manic, "I'm hyper and alert who needs sleep!" wakefulness either...my mind is thrashing in an undertow, grasping for lines of coherent thought. The thoughts and notions are there, but the connections are slippery. I feel like I'll be able to fall asleep tonight, though. Here's hoping.

I've started reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and I'm in love with the tale. It speaks to me. Nietzsche makes out being a sick and lonely freak to be so glorious :)

After class today, I stopped by the bookstore to purchase the textbook, but the damn thing costs $50 so I decided that the symbolic logic textbook I already own shall suffice and picked up a used copy of Plato's The Last Days of Socrates for $9 instead. I've read the Apology and the Phaedo, but the book includes a couple other plays and has many more useful notes than my cheap copies of the aforementioned.

Hummingbirds like to feed from the red and purple flowers in my backyard. They're so beautiful, like tiny little jewels. My dad sent me a couple of pictures he took of the female of the pair who frequent our property:
