"This sage with fourty thoughts is a fool; but I believe he knows how to sleep."

unngghh

Within the past three days, I've managed a total of maybe 5 hours of restive sleep...it hasn't been manic, "I'm hyper and alert who needs sleep!" wakefulness either...my mind is thrashing in an undertow, grasping for lines of coherent thought. The thoughts and notions are there, but the connections are slippery. I feel like I'll be able to fall asleep tonight, though. Here's hoping.

I've started reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and I'm in love with the tale. It speaks to me. Nietzsche makes out being a sick and lonely freak to be so glorious :)

After class today, I stopped by the bookstore to purchase the textbook, but the damn thing costs $50 so I decided that the symbolic logic textbook I already own shall suffice and picked up a used copy of Plato's The Last Days of Socrates for $9 instead. I've read the Apology and the Phaedo, but the book includes a couple other plays and has many more useful notes than my cheap copies of the aforementioned.

Hummingbirds like to feed from the red and purple flowers in my backyard. They're so beautiful, like tiny little jewels. My dad sent me a couple of pictures he took of the female of the pair who frequent our property:
